Oh wow, my first blog. How stereotypical of my generation right? They always tell us, if you don't like something, go on the Internet and complain about it. That's all good and fine I suppose, but why not talk about good things too? I was thinking to myself, nobody is going to want to read this if I just whine and bitch all the time, why not make it at least somewhat interesting to read. Now, I can't guarantee that I won't cry about some stuff from time to time, but you get the idea...
I invite everybody to watch game 1 of the World Series tonight. Tampa (in what I considered a slightly odd move) is throwing out Scott Kazmir tonight against Cole Hamels. I've been pulling for Tampa to get to this point since July, I can't just up and leave them now.
Talk about a Cinderella story. These same Rays had the worst record in baseball the last 2 years and have consistently finished at the bottom of their division since their conception whenever I was just a wee little Mizener. Now, with virtually nothing to spend, this low market team is just 4 wins away from becoming world champions. This is absolutely amazing. Forget Fresno State, forget Tiger over Rocco, forget the Boston Celtics, forget the New York Giants, this is by far the most impressive overcoming sports story of 2008. There is no legitimate way you can disagree with this. Not only did they make the playoffs, but they won the whole division knocking the Yankees out of the playoffs (sorry Mags) and forcing Boston to take a wild card (sorry KG). You can't help but root for them now. I don't know, maybe I don't really want to see Tampa win. Maybe they just remind me of my Kansas City Royals with their history, payroll, and age. Does that knock me off the bandwagon?
